This oil-in-water sunscreen lotion provides high UV protection. The combination of SolaStay® S1, Polycrylene® and HallBrite® BHB ensures reliable photostability for Avobenzone. In vitro testing suggests SPF ~76, PFA (PPD) ~23 performance with critical wavelength = 377 nm. In vivo testing in a US laboratory (5 subjects) yielded static SPF 85, with 80-minute water resistant SPF 80.

PREPARATIVE PROCEDURE
1 To the main vessel add liquids of phase A, start mixing and disperse Pemulen TR-2 with strong mixing for 20-30 minutes.
2 Heat dispersion with gentle mixing to 70-75 °C, add phase B in phase A and mix until dissolved.
3 To a secondary vessel add phase C, start mixing and add phase D. Heat to 70 – 75°C and then add phase E with mixing.
Add phase   F before combination and mix until uniform.
4 When both phases are homogeneous and at their designated temperatures, add phase CDEF to phase AB.
5 Strong mix ABCD for 3 minutes and then cool batch.
6 When the batch is below 50°C add phase G with mixing, replace any water lost and mix until smooth.
